About this article

This article provides an overview of the various file storage options supported by WSU. It is intended for WSU students and employees.

File storage options

Laptop hard drive

Both the MacBook and EliteBook hard drives come configured with a home folder and several sub-folders designed to help you organize and manage your files. The capacity of the hard drive varies depending on your MacBook model.

Local network storage

WSU provides students and employees with several storage options on our local campus network. This storage is accessible from on campus directly and from off-campus via VPN.

Cloud storage

WSU provides all students and employees with 1 TB of storage space on Microsoft's cloud servers through our Microsoft Office 365 license. This cloud storage service is called OneDrive for Business.

External storage

WSU students and employees are free to use external storage devices (e.g., flash drives, external hard drives, SC cards) at their own risk. These disks must be encrypted if they are used to store private information.
