Fireworks/Batch Processing Thumbnails and Resizing

Fireworks provides a tool for batch processing your image files with several options.

  • Resize
    Fireworks logo.jpg
  • Convert file type
  • Rename
  • And other effects.

Steps for Batch Processing Thumbnails

1. Use menu File>Batch Process...
2. Follow the instructions in the Dialog Box—First... select the folder you are processing and select the individual files that you are processing.

Click on Next...
3. Choose the options for processing. In the case of creating thumbnails:
a. First Set "Export" properties. In the example it is set for "Jpeg - smaller file"
b. Then Scale the file. In the example the thumb will be 150 x 150 pixels, and set for "Scale to Fit Area".
c. Then Rename the file. In the example the Prefix "Thumb" will be added to each file.

4: Select the location for saving your files. Click on BATCH...

Steps for Scaling or Resizing Graphics in a Batch

1. Use menu File>Batch Process...
2. Follow the instructions in the Dialog Box—First... select the folder you are processing and select the individual files that you are processing. As above.
3. Choose the options for processing. In the case of resizing:
a. First Set "Export" properties. For larger web images, the quality may be "JPEG - Better Quality".
b. Then Scale the file. If you are doing this to standardize images for a web site, use "Scale to Fit Area" for the option.
Recommended: for your website scale your full-sized graphics to be equal to or less than the size of your table width.
In the recommended size this is 800 pixels.
c. Then Rename the file as wished.
4. Complete the batch process as above.
