Restore your backup files from a network drive or external media

  • Open your network drive or external media
  • Go to the folder where your backup is located
  • Open a Finder Window
  • Select Go from the menu
  • Select Home
  • You will see the following folders: Desktop, Documents, Downloads, Movies, Music, Pictures & Public
  • Open the folder that you want to copy files to
  • Position both windows side-by-side
  • Drag files from your network drive to your new laptop. It is important to drag the files from each folder and then paste them into the folders that are already created on your new laptop. If you drag the whole folder you will end up with duplicate folder names.
