About this article

This article provides an introduction to the Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 8" tablet. It is intended for all students and employees participating in the E-Warrior Digital Life and Learning Program.

Introducing the Samsung Galaxy Tab 4

Debuted by Samsung in May, 2014, the black Galaxy Tab 4 8.0" model was selected by WSU as the Android tablet option for the 2014-2015 academic year. This tablet includes a 1.2GHz quad-core processor, a 1280x800 display, a 3-megapixel front camera, a 1.3-megapixel rear camera, 1.5 GB of RAM, 16 GB of internal storage, a microSD slot for up to 64 GB of additional storage, and Android 4.4 KitKat.

Backing up your Tab 4

Backing up your Tab 4 is as simple as turning on the automatic backup.

You can automatically back up your application data, Wi-Fi passwords, contacts, and other settings to your Google account.

  1. From any home screen, tap Apps. (Its the little 4-square-by-4-square icon at the bottom left of the home page.)
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Select the General tab at the top right.
  4. Tap Backup and reset in the left column.
  5. Set your backup account to your Google account.
  6. Select these check boxes: Back up my data and Automatic restore

All of your data will be automatically backed up on Google's server.

Restoring data back to your Tab 4

To restore your backed up application data, Wi-Fi passwords, contacts and other settings from Google servers, follow these steps:

  1. From any home screen, tap Apps. (Its the little 4-square-by-4-square icon at the bottom left of the home page.)
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Select the General tab at the top right.
  4. Tap Accounts in the left column.
  5. Tap Google in the right column.
  6. Tap your email address.
  7. Check the desired boxes to sync. Only the data that are checked will be restored.

Each checked data area will include the date and time of the last restore under the datum's name.
