You need to have your Apple ID created before you can use Find My iPhone.

There are two ways to find your iPhone or iPad. Using your computer or using a mobile device.


Setting up Find My iPhone:

1. Tap on “Settings”.

2. Tap on “iCloud” form the menu on the left.

3. Type in your Apple ID and password in the “Account” section.

4. If prompted to “Merge with iCloud”, tap “Merge”.

5. If prompted to allow iCloud to use your location, tap “OK”.

6. At the bottom of the lost on the right hand side, make sure “Find My iPhone” is on.

7. Tap “Privacy” from the menu on the left.

8. Tap "Location Services" at the top of the menu.

9. Make sure location services are on.

10. Scroll to the bottom of the screen and turn on "Find My iPad".



Finding iPad:

Using a computer:

1. Go to iCloud.com in your web browser.

2. Click on “Sign in”.

a. Enter in your Apple ID and password.

3. Click on “Find My iPhone” from the options.

a. This will load a map with your devices and their locations.

4. Click on My Devices from the center of the page and select your iPad from the drop down menu.

5. You now have the option to:

a. Play a sound

  • i. This will play a loud sound on your iPad so you or someone near it will find it.

b. Put it in Lost Mode

  • i. This allows you to lock your iPad and display a message on the screen with your phone number.

c. Erase iPad

  • i. This will allow you to delete the contents of your iPad so whoever finds it will not be able to access any of your information. USE CAUTION: when doing this it will erase all of your data and you will not be able to track your iPad anymore. ONLY use this if you know you are not going to be able to recover your iPad.


Using a mobile device:

• If someone has “Find My iPhone” installed on an iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch then you will be able to use this option.

3. Tap on “Devices” in the top-left-hand corner.

4. Select your iPad from the list.
