Google Docs is a free, online document service offered by Google. Documents included are a word processor, a spreadsheet, a presentation, a form, and drawings. All documents are stored online by Google. Google documents are all collaborative. That means that anyone the document creator allows can help edit a document at the same time as others. For users who do not have a Google account, documents are only available for twenty-four hours after creation. Google accounts are free to create if the user needs more than one day to work on the document.

Limitations

Because Google offers this service for free, there are some expected limitations in the documents. These limitations are in place to restrict file size to better serve a wider user base. These limitations include:

  1. A single document cannot exceed 1 GB in space
  2. Inserted images cannot exceed 2MB each
  3. Spreadsheets cannot be larger than 256 columns, 200,000 cells, and 99 sheets
