Send your applause to our graduates by producing a quick video of you clapping and cheering for 30 seconds. Winona State University employees can use any of these methods. Friends and family can use any familiar video production tool. We have included instructions for using QuickTime (Mac) and Microsoft Camera (PC). Kaltura Capture requires StarID credentials and is intended for Winona State University students and employees only.

Apple QuickTime

This is an option for anyone using a Mac computer. Use QuickTime and your webcam to record a video, save it to your computer's hard drive, and then email it to MarComm.

Record

  1. Launch QuickTime. Find it in your Applications folder.
  2. Select New Movie Recording from the File menu
  3. Allow QuickTime to access your camera and microphone if prompted
  4. From the webcam display window, select the circular record button.
  5. Clap and cheer for 30 secs
  6. When done, hit the square stop button
  7. Play the video back to review it. Delete it and repeat the process if you want to do another take.

Kaltura Capture

This is an option for all Winona State University employees and requires a Star ID. It works on a Mac or PC computer. With this method, instead of uploading your video file to the MarComm OneDrive, you will email a link to your video to webcomm@winona.edu.

Record

  2. Select Add New in the top right corner and select Kaltura Capture from the menu (Fig 1). If you have never used Kaltura Capture before or it has been a long time since you used it, download and install it on your computer. After installation, close your browser, restart it, and repeat Steps 1 and 2.
  3. Select Open Kaltura Capture if prompted by your browser.
  4. When the Kaltura Capture application opens, click on Screen to deselect it. It will change color and the icon will have a line through it, indicating it’s off. Camera and Audio should be on (Fig 2.1).

  6. Select the square button to stop recording (Fig 3).
