Sign in to Zoom using guest credentials if you do not have a StarID and need to join a meeting configured to only allow authenticated access. In addition to StarID credentials, Zoom recognizes Google, Facebook, and Zoom personal account credentials as valid methods of authentication.

StarID and SSO

If you are a Minnesota State student or employee, always use your StarID credentials to authenticate in Zoom and select the SSO option when prompted (Fig 1.1). Do not use any of these alternative methods.

Alternative authentication methods

If you do not have a Minnesota State StarID, you can use any of these three methods to join a Zoom meeting that requires authentication. You will enter the meeting with "(Guest)" appended to your screen name and you may be placed in a waiting room queue before being admitted to the session.

Google

Select the Sign in with Google button (Fig 1.2) to use your existing Google account credentials.

Facebook

Select the Sign in with Facebook button (Fig 1.3) to use your existing Facebook account credentials.

Zoom personal account

If you have a Zoom personal account that is not licensed under Minnesota State:

  1. Enter the email address you used to create that account and the account password in the fields on the left (Fig 1.4).
  2. Select the Sign In button
