You can update and patch your WSU laptop manually if needed. Normally, most updates and patches are pushed to your laptop automatically when you are connected to the campus network. Manually updating your laptop may be necessary when you are off-campus for long periods.

Time and repetition

Depending on the number and size of the updates, this process could take between 10 minutes and several hours to complete and will typically require multiple restarts. Repeat the process until there are no more updates to install. Although you will be able to work while your laptop is updating, be sure to save your work frequently in case a restart is required. You may also notice that your laptop and Internet performance are sluggish while updating.
