Attention tracking in Zoom meetings

Attention tracking in Zoom meetings is possible by monitoring the participant list. Hosts will see an indicator if an attendee does not have the Zoom application open and active for more than 30 seconds while someone is sharing a screen. Attention tracking does not use audio or video input and must be enabled in a host's Zoom settings, after which it will apply to all meetings. An attentiveness score, the percentage of time attendees were presumably paying attention, can be reviewed in the meeting's usage report.

Enable attention tracking

  1. Browse to the Zoom host web portal at https://minnstate.zoom.us and select Sign In.
  2. In the navigation panel, click Settings.
  3. From the Meeting tab, select In Meeting (Advanced).
  4. Enable Attention tracking by dragging the slider to the right.

Monitor attention

While hosting a meeting, select the Manage Participants button at the bottom of the meeting window. A clock icon will be displayed next to the name of each participant (Fig 3) who is not paying attention.
