  • August 21. Most instructors put their course materials and links to other activities in the table of contents of their Brightspace courses. Select your course. Then select Content from the Materials menu to go to the course's table of contents.
  • August 22. Select your name and Profile to add a pic and other info to your Brightspace profile. Select your name and Account Settings to add your pronouns.
  • August 24. Select your name and Notifications to set automatic email notifications (e.g., when an assignment has been graded) and to learn more about the Brightspace Pulse mobile app. Even more info about Pulse...
  • August 25. To see your grades in your Brightspace classes, go to a course and select Grades from the Assessments menu. You can also choose Quizzes or Assignments from the Assessments menu to see feedback attached to your submitted quizzes and assignment submissions.
  • Sept 7. To prevent the original post from appearing at the bottom of your reply in a Brightspace discussion, select your name in the upper right corner and then Account Settings. Select the Discussions tab and uncheck "Include original post in reply." Select Save and Close.
  • Sept 8. When uploading files to Brightspace assignment folders, avoid using special characters in your file name, such as #&?!@',. You can use spaces, hyphens, and underscores.
  • Sept 13. When taking a test or quiz in Brightspace in a classroom, restart your laptop when you arrive to connect to the nearest wireless access point. Don't just wake it up from hibernation. You want a solid connection to the nearest access point.
  • Sept 14. Some instructors use Respondus Lockdown Browser (LDB) for Brightspace quizzes to prevent you from doing anything on your laptop other than the quiz. LDB opens when you start the quiz and closes when you submit it. Install/update LDB before the test session to save time and aggravation. Select Quizzes from the Assessments menu, select your quiz, and then select the Download and install the latest version of Lockdown Browser link at the bottom of the page.
  • Sept 24. All WSU students have a free Zoom Pro host account. Go to https://minnstate.zoom.us, select Sign in, and enter your StarID and StarID password to activate it and create Zoom meetings. From this website, you can also change your Zoom settings, access meeting recordings, and more. Learn more...
  • Sept 25. To blur your background, select from preset backgrounds, or upload a background image in Zoom, open your Zoom app. From the Home tab, select the gear icon to open your settings and then select Background & Effects.
