Fall 2023

  • August 21. Download and install the most recent version of Airtame at https://airtame.com/download. Use Airtame to connect to classroom displays wirelessly. Learn more...
  • August 24. Select Classlist from the Communication menu and scan the Last Accessed column to see how many students visited your Brightspace course. Select Class Progress from the Assessments menu to get more info. Select a student's name from the Class Progress page for even more info!
  • August 25. If you copied quizzes from a previous term that used Respondus Lockdown Browser (LDB), make sure to select Quizzes from the Assessments menu and then select the Lockdown Browser tab. Let your quizzes load into the dashboard. This configures them for use with LDB for the current term. It might take a minute!
  • Sept 7. To prevent the original post from appearing at the bottom of your reply in a Brightspace discussion, select your name in the upper right corner and then Account Settings. Select the Discussions tab and uncheck "Include original post in reply." Select Save and Close.
  • Sept 8. When uploading files to Brightspace (e.g., in your table of contents, as attachments), avoid using special characters in your file name, such as #&?!@',. You can use spaces, hyphens, and underscores.
  • Sept 11. To give specific students more time on a Brightspace quiz, select Manage Special Access from Availability and Conditions when editing a quiz. Select "Allow selected users special access to this quiz" and select Add Users to Special Access. Adjust the timing, select the student(s), and select Save.
  • Sept 12. To give specific students more time on all Brightspace quizzes in your course, select Classlist from the Communications menu. Then select the down arrow to the right of the student's name and select Edit Accommodations. You can increase the time limit by a factor (e.g., x2) or add a specific number of minutes.
  • Sept 13. To give specific students more time on all Brightspace quizzes in your course, select Classlist from the Communication menu.   • Sept 14. To check your Zoom Phone voicemail, open the Zoom client on your laptop, select the Phone tab, and select the Voicemail subtab. You will also get an email notification of any voicemail, including a transcript and playable audio file.
  • Sept 24. Change your Zoom Phone status to Do Not Disturb to disable incoming call notifications temporarily. Select your avatar and your current status from the menu. Select Do Not Disturb and a timeframe. Manually switch back to Available as needed. Learn more...
