Instructors can use this Classroom Preflight Checklist prior to the start of an academic term to ensure that they are prepared to meet their students face-to-face as part of an in-person, hybrid, or mostly online course. Due to COVID-19, this checklist includes several new preparation tasks.
COVID-19 considerations
COVID-19 has the greatest impact on in-person instruction. The challenges can be grouped into two major categories: meeting in-person safely and accommodating students who must isolate or quarantine. The general checklist items below have been modified to include special, COVID-specific considerations. To review all the COVID-specific considerations when preparing for in-person class meetings, consult the following checklists:
- COVID Course Readiness Checklist: In-person Meetings
- COVID Student Readiness Checklist: In-person Meetings
Checklist
- Identify your assigned classroom. Every class that includes in-person meetings is assigned a classroom for the duration of the academic term. Assigned classrooms are listed in the Web Registration entry for the course and are posted to our Campus Room Scheduling System. Classroom assignments can also be found online in your ISRS eServices dashboard under Faculty...Courses. If you do not have a classroom assigned, contact your department chair or office administrative services professional.
- Determine your classroom's location, capacity, and layout. Consult the online classroom floorplan to determine your classroom's location, maximum capacity, and furniture layout. Note the the maximum capacity of all assigned classrooms has been reduced and furniture has been rearranged to accommodate social distancing in response to COVID-19. If you have any questions about any of the floor plans, please contact Facilities@winona.edu.
