About this article
This article includes instructions for downloading lynda courses and programs for offline access and deleting the video files from your mobile device when you are finished with them. It is intended for all members of the campus community who have a university lynda.com account and a mobile device.
Before you begin
Before you can view lynda videos on your tablet or phone, you need a WSU lynda.com account. When you run the app for the first time, you will have to enter the username (your WSU email address) and password (created by you) for your lynda account. You will also need to install the app on your mobile device.
Downloading lynda videos
The steps for downloading lynda videos differ slightly for the iPad/iPhone and Android versions of the mobile app. To download a course or video, launch the mobile app and open up a video. Then...
iPad/iPhone
- To download an individual video, select the download button (downward-pointing arrow) to the right of the name of the video clip on the left side of the screen. The download progress will be indicated by an animation.
- To download all the videos in a course, select the download button in the upper right corner of the video window. Select Download Entire Course.
- Any downloaded video will be indicated by a mobile device icon versus a download icon on the list on the left side of the screen.
- You can play the downloaded videos as usual. You will not need to be online to watch these videos.
Android
- To download an individual video, select Download underneath the video window. This will bring up the Manage Downloads screen that presents you with the option to download all the videos in the course or individual videos, one at a time. The download progress will be indicated by an animation.
- Close the Manage Downloads screen by taping the left arrow in the upper left corner of the screen.
- Downloaded videos will be signified by a circular download icon next to the name of the video on the left side of the screen.
- You can play the downloaded videos as usual. You will not need to be online to watch these videos.
Deleting downloaded lynda videos
The steps for deleting downloaded lynda videos differ slightly for the iPad/iPhone and Android versions of the mobile app. To delete a downloaded video, launch the mobile app and open up a video. Then...
iPad/iPhone
- Select the download button in the upper right corner of the video window.
- Option 1: Select Delete downloaded videos." You will be asked to confirm that you want to delete all downloaded videos
- Option 2: Select Go to Downloads. This will take you to a list of all the videos that you have downloaded. Select Edit in the upper right corner of the screen. Select the individual videos you want to delete. Select the Trash button in the upper left corner of the screen. You will be asked to confirm that you want to delete the selected videos. Select the hamburger to return to your home screen or another area of the mobile app.
Android
- To download an individual video, select Download underneath the video window. This will bring up the Manage Downloads screen that presents you with the option to download all the videos in the course or individual videos, one at a time. The download progress will be indicated by an animation.
