What Type of Issues?

The Power Management Unit (PMU) is a micro controller that controls the power function within a computer. At times the PMU may become unresponsive, causing the computer to not turn on or restore itself from sleep mode, it may fail to recognize FireWire, USB, or be unable to charge the battery.

What Can You Do?

Solutions for PC:

  1. Shut down computer.
  2. Remove the battery.
  3. Remove the AC Adapter.
  4. Hold power button for 5 seconds.
  5. Replace battery.
  6. Plug in AC Adapter.
  7. Power on machine.

Solution for Mac:

  1. Shut down computer.
  2. Plug in AC Adapter.
  3. Hold Shift-Control-Option keys (left side) and then press the Power button.
  4. Release all keys and the power button at the same time.
  5. Power on the machine.
