Solver for Excel

Solver is a Microsoft Excel add-in program you can use for what-if analysis. Put simply, you can use Solver to determine the maximum or minimum value of one cell by changing other cells. For example, you can change the amount of your projected advertising budget and see the effect on your projected profit amount.

How to install Solver for Excel

1. Install Office 365 (PC) from here: https://www.office.com/1/?auth=2&home=1&from=ShellLogo

2. Once installed, open Excel and sign in with StarID if prompted.

3. In Excel, click the Insert tab then click the Store icon (red grocery bag icon)

Note: if you do not see the Store icon, please try to restart your computer and begin at step one.

4. Once the Office Add-ins window opens, type Solver in the search box at the top left. When Solver appears, click it then click Add.

5. Solver will take a moment to download and install and then will open in the right hand pane.
