Spotlight search is accessible by swiping to the screen before the first home screen or by clicking the home button while on the first home screen. If you are using IOS 7, you will need to swipe down on any home page to activate spotlight. Users are then able to type in any search query they may want and spotlight will search through apps, contacts, music, videos, podcasts, audiobooks, notes, mail, calendar, and more. This can be a handy way to track down a specific email or hard to spot app.
