Zoom Mobile App Guide

This article will show you how use the Zoom App from your mobile phone once you have joined the meeting. Instructions for installing and joining a meeting using the Zoom App on your mobile phone can be found by clicking on this link.

Main Tabs For Zoom Mobile App

After you are done installing and signing in, the first screen you will be taken to is Home Screen For Zoom Mobile App. This screen has main tabs at the bottom of your phone screen. These main tabs are:

  1. Meet And Chat.
  2. Meetings
  3. Contacts
  4. Settings

Features Included In Above Mentioned Tabs

Meet and Chat

This is by default your Home Screen for Zoom. When you click this tab on your phone screen, you will see the screen where there are four more tabs that you can tap on. These tabs are

  • New Meeting
  • Join a Meeting
  • Schedule Meeting
  • Share Screen

Functions of these sub-tabs Under 'Meet and Chat' are:


New Meeting

When you click on this tab you can host your personal meeting by clicking on Start a Meeting on your phone screen or you can click Cancel to go back to Home Screen. You also have the option to control your video to be on or off before you start to host a meeting by using the Toggle Button.

Join a Meeting

Schedule Meeting

Under this tab you can schedule your personal meeting. You are host of your personal meeting. You can decide when to start meeting, how long meeting is going to be, if password is required to join a meeting and many more options. You can schedule your personal meeting as per your convenience. This can be done to set up a group project meeting and other meetings that you might want to host. Once you are done scheduling your meeting, click Done.

Share Screen

This option allows you to share your screen without being part of any on-going meetings. It is more like you starting to host your personal meeting by sharing your mobile screen. Ignore this tab for Sharing Screen. You can share your screen once you are part of any meeting if, host of the meeting has enabled that feature.


Meetings

This tab is one of your main tab which allows you to Start a meeting, Send Invitation to person from your contact list to join a meeting and Edit the setting of your personal Zoom meetings. This is also the window where your upcoming meetings or events lined up.

Contacts

This tab lists your starred favorites contacts, any person and Zoom Rooms associated with Winona State University. You can search for the contacts from the Search Box located at the top of your mobile Screen. If you tap on plus sign on upper left corner of your mobile screen you can Add a Contact, Create a New Channel, Join a Public Channel, Add an App. Under this tb you can select Phone Contacts option and set your cell phone number to make a call to anybody from your contacts while using Zoom App.

Settings

Last tab you would see on Zoom Home Screen is Settings tab. This tab is organized by Meetings, Contacts, Chat and General. You can add Siri Shortcuts. Siri shortcut available are: Join the Next Meeting, View's Today's Meetings, Start My Personal Meeting. The Screen for Setting is shown below:

To make changes to your phone screen tap on the top of your screen with you name and profile photo and you will be taken to a new screen where you can change your profile photo, display name, personal meeting id, personal link name, etc. This is the Screen where you can sign out of Zoom App.

Features You can use While Being in a Zoom Meeting

Once you have joined a Zoom Meeting by following instruction on Joining a Zoom Meeting wiki page, you will see the screen similar to the one shown below.

All the parts highlighted by white rectangles in the above shown picture are the are the area where you can touch and make changes. Each option has different functions which are as follows:


a. Speaker Icon: If you look at top left corner of your phone screen you will see the small speaker icon. That icon is clickable or touchable. You can mute and unmute speakers by touching the part of screen where the Speaker Icon on your phone screen is.


b. End: If you look at the top right corner of your mobile phone screen you will see End option written in red letters. Click on that to end the meeting you no longer need to be part of.


c. Microphone Icon: On the bottom left of your screen you will see the microphone icon. Tap on that icon to control your microphone. If you don't want other people to hear you you can tab on that icon to Mute and if you need to use microphone tap again to Unmute. It is recommended that you mute your microphone when you are not speaking in a Zoom Meetings.

Note: Image on Left shows the icon of microphone while muted and image on the Right shows icon of microphone while umuted.


d. Video Icon: Next to Microphone Icon you will see the Video Icon. You can tap on that icon on your phone screen to control your video to be on or off while being in a Zoom meeting.

e. Share Content: Next to Video Icon you will see the Share Content option which allows you to share your mobile phone screen. If you tap on that option, you will see the screen shown as below:

Choose any options out of the many available options, as seen in above image, to share screen from your mobile phone to your zoom meetings.


f. Participants: Next option available is participant where you can see the number and name of the people joined in a current zoom meeting that you are in. After you tap on Participants on your mobile screen the following screen will come up.

If there are more than one participants at a time you can chat with your Zoom Meeting Participants and you are also allowed to send text privately by selecting the name of the person. You can invite people to the meeting by taping on Invite option. If you are a host of the meeting you have access to mute and unmute all.


g. More: Under this tab you can chat with the meeting's participants, record the zoom meetings, change the meeting setting, can Disconnect audio and minimize meeting. The image of this tab is shown below:
