Connecting Android to WSU Wireless

Android 12 (or newer) - Connecting to Warrior Wi-Fi

BEFORE YOU PROCEED: We recommend removing your existing connections to any other WSU Wi-Fi networks by tapping and holding the network name then tapping Forget.

1. Open Chrome and go to the address shown in the screenshot below.

2. Android will inform you that this certificate must be installed in Settings.

3. Go to Settings - Security - Encryption & Credentials then tap Install a certificate.

4. Tap Wi-Fi certificate.

5. Tap the CRT file with winona in the name.

6. Name the certificate CERT in all-caps then tap OK.

7. Go to Settings - Network & internet - Internet then tap warrior once it appears in the list.

8. On the warrior screen tap the field for CA certificate then tap CERT.

9. Now enter winona.edu under Domain, enter your StarID under Identity, leave the Anonymous identity blank, then enter your StarID password under Password.

10. After a few seconds it should say Connected under warrior.

Android 11 - Connecting to WSU Guest Wi-Fi

BEFORE YOU PROCEED: If possible, update your Android device to Android 12 (or newer) then follow the instructions above instead.

1. Select WSU Guest Wi-Fi.

2. Select Don’t have an account.

3. Create an account using your full name and WSU email address. This username and password can be used to connect your Android 11 device to WSU Guest Wi-Fi.

4. Your account is now created!

5. After you choose WSU Guest Wi-Fi on your Android 11 device, enter your username and password then click Accept on the Acceptable Use Policy.

Android 10 (or earlier) - Connecting to Warrior Wi-Fi

1. Swipe up or tap to open your Applications tray.

4. Tap Wi-Fi then then tap warrior.

5. Under EAP method select PEAP and under Phase 2 authentication select MSCHAPV2.

6. Under CA certificate select Do not validate then tap Identity and type your StarID. Enter your StarID password then tap Connect.

7. Done! If you see Connected then you have successfully connected your Android device to WSU's Warrior Wi-Fi network.

Troubleshooting Tips

  • Please update your Android device to its latest supported version of Android before attempting to connect to WSU Wi-Fi networks.
  • Swipe away all apps then restart your Android device before performing these steps.
  • If these steps don't work the first time then go to your Wi-Fi settings, long press the warrior network, select Forget Network then retry the steps above.
  • If you have a VPN app on your Android device consider disabling it before attempting these steps. Once connected, feel free to re-enable your VPN and test if your connection still works.
