Activate your Minnesota State Zoom Pro host account
Activate your Minnesota State Zoom Pro host account to host your own online meetings using the Pro version of Zoom. Activating your free Pro account provided by Minnesota State will give you access to all the features and functions of the Pro version of Zoom for as long as you have an active Minnesota State StarID username and password.
Activate your account
- Browse to https://minnstate.zoom.us
- Select the Sign In button (Fig 1)
- Log in using your StarID username (e.g., ab1234cd) and password. This will activate your Minnesota State Zoom Pro host account, open your Zoom host portal, and display your Zoom profile information.
What if I already have an account?
If you already have a personal Zoom account that you created using your WSU email address, you will be prompted to migrate that account to the Minnesota State license when you activate your Minnesota State Pro account. If your existing account is the free Basic license, migration is encouraged as you will gain free access to additional features and functions available in the Pro version of Zoom. If your existing account is a paid Pro license, Zoom will reimburse you if you decide to migrate. If you used another email address to create your existing Zoom account, you can maintain it and still activate your Minnesota State Pro account. You will then have a second Zoom account that will be associated with your StarID and WSU email address. If you decide to maintain multiple Zoom accounts, make sure to sign in to Zoom using your StarID credentials prior to joining meetings hosted through our Minnesota State Zoom license. Otherwise, you may be prohibited from joining the meeting or tagged as a guest when you enter the meeting.
How long will my account last?
Your Minnesota State Zoom Pro account will be maintained as long as you have an active StarID username and password in the Minnesota State system.
Can I use my account for personal meetings?
Yes. You can use your Minnesota State Zoom Pro account to communicate with friends, family, and colleagues from outside the Minnesota State system. In accordance with Minnesota Statutes, §43A.38, subdivision 4, you may use system information technology for personal communications as long as the use is in accordance with state law and Board policy and it does not result in an incremental cost to the state. See System Procedure 5.22.1 for more information.
