Draft:Apple MacBook Air
About this article
This article provides an introduction to the Apple MacBook Air laptop. It is intended for all students and employees participating in the E-Warrior Digital Life and Learning Program.
Introducing the Apple MacBook Air
Debuted by Apple in January, 2008, the MacBook Air replaced the white MacBook as Apple's entry-level laptop in 2011 and has gone through several iterations in terms of technical specifications. It was selected by WSU as the Mac laptop option for the 2014-2015 academic year and we will be offering it again for the 2015-2016 academic year.
Current Model
Our model this year includes a 5th generation, dual core i5 processor, 8 GB of RAM, a 256 GB solid state drive, a 13.3" screen with 1440x900 resolution, Thunderbolt and USB 3.0 ports, and OS X El Capitan pre-installed. Compared with previous models, a notable difference is the lack of an internal, optical CD-DVD drive and an increase in RAM. Those who still rely on CD-DVD media have several options (e.g., attaching an external CD-DVD drive).
Physical Features of the MacBook Air
Optional - Trackpad settings
The Mac trackpad has many gestures setup to use with it. The video below provides an overview these gestures. You can also go to Settings and select the Trackpad icon to change the default settings.
